Hazel Davies

Hazel Davies is a photographer and artist. She completed her MA in Photography at Kingston University in 2015.

She primarily uses analogue film and often works with the Polaroid medium. Her work explores themes of materiality in photography and analogue processes.

She is a member of the OPSED collective, a group of artists from the Kingston MA Photography course, who continue to work and exhibit together.

Her work has been published, including:

  • Rhiannon Adam’s book Polaroid: The Missing Manual (Thames & Hudson, 2017)
  • Dawne Fahey’s book, InPrint-Is.
  • The Photodarium 2020 Calendar.

For our 7 Wonders group show, Hazel presents five works from her Polaroid Manipulation series: images created by manually working (by hand and with instruments) the polaroid film papers (both the positive and negative surfaces) and subsequent direct exposure to light and air. The resulting images are enlarged and giclee printed on pearl archive papers.
