Linocut Printing Workshop (onto cotton bags) with EJ Sparkles
19/09/2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm£35
A tutored, practical and creative workshop for anyone wanting to learn (and test out) the practical techniques of linocut printing onto a colourful bag (choice of colours), led by CONCLAVE artist, EJ Sparkles.
In this one-evening workshop, everyone will get to print their very own mid-century inspired designs onto a cotton tote bag, which you will – of course – get to take home (and then take out to show off!) at the end of the session.
We’ll start by looking at the design elements that work well (and those that don’t work quite so well!) in linocut printing, and we know you’ll be feeling super-inspired by all the fabulous artworks on display in the gallery at Conclave!
We’ll then focus on creating patterns and repeating motifs, and carving these into your own print blocks (which you can take away at the end of the workshop to let you create more works and more variations with your new print skills!)
The final stage is for you to get down-and-dirty with the printing inks, and getting to see your creations take a life of their own and come into being in front of your own eyes!
This is a small group workshop (maximum of 10 attendees), so you’ll get plenty of support and advice, even if you’re an absolute beginner (or maybe you just need a bit of extra confidence to get going!)
We will be working with special washable fabric inks (so your bag will be practical as well as beautiful!) and there will be a selection of ink and bag colours available (full-on retro-vintage-wonderfulness!) to choose from on the day.
All tools and materials will be provided, as will teas, coffees and biscuits to keep those creative juices flowing!
SUITABLE FOR AGES: 16+ only, please!
Buy tickets to reserve your place here.
