Alexandra Owen

Alex is a Brighton-based printmaker who works with traditional relief printmaking techniques, mostly in the form of linocut prints.

Her prints are inspired by the natural world, the mystery of human beings, and sometimes the interaction of the two. Her works combine delicate mark-making with bold, often monochrome palettes, setting off flat, semi-abstract forms against textured detail and finishes to result in these wonderfully tactile, intimate and reflective artworks.

She works from her studio space in Hove, where all her prints are hand burnished (without a press) onto delicate, specialist Japanese printmaking papers.
