Junkhead Creative
Junkhead Creative (aka Mariana Crisóstomo) is a Portuguese illustrator and graphic designer living and working between Porto and Brighton.
Mariana studied for her Sound and Image BA in Porto before moving to London to complete her MA in Communication Design: Illustration at Kingston University.
She’s been working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer since 2012, with hundreds of clients including Porto Editora, LeYa, Manuscrito Editora, Grupo Solverde and FUJIFILM Portugal.
Her practice ranges from children’s illustration to logo design, books, posters, clothing, wall and window painting, personalised illustrations, showing a coherent but diverse body of work.
There is a simplicity and purity in her style and mark-making that encourages the viewer to engage and empathise with joy: we smile along at the confusing, bemusing and silly everyday scenarios that we can all relate to, whilst appreciating them for being there – as they say, it’s the little things in life…
